A day of African songs with Drumming

We start the day with an hour long assembly and take singing much further than is normally possible in schools. We facilitate the whole school to use their voices like an orchestra. Creating simple parts and layering them up like instruments. We continue the day with 30-40 minute sessions with class sized groups where the children create an accompaniment to the songs using drums and percussion.

A DrumCrazy day of African Songs with drumming features:

Whole school session:

One hour assembly
Work with body rhythms
A call and response song
A song with 2 to 4 parts
A volunteer group of older children play a simple drum accompaniment to our song.

Class Drumcircles:

Up to 6 class sized groups in a day
Everyone plays a drum and a percussion instrument
Together we all create an accompaniment to one of the songs
Volunteers become conductors
